About Moonshadow Alpaca Ranch

We saw alpacas up close for the first time in 2002 and instantly fell in love! Typical story for alpaca owners, but we discovered alpacas at that point in our lives where we were ready for a change and had just been discussing what we were looking for.  The alpaca lifestyle met all of our personal and professional goals....a rewarding lifestyle with solid financial returns, that also included great tax incentives! It did not take us long after researching alpacas to know it was the right move for us. In just a short time we had purchased 5 bred females, put our house up for sale and went in search of property to raise our herd. By the end of the year in 2002, Moonshadow Alpaca Ranch was a reality, ranch development had begun, we had the beginning of our herd and our first cria were on the ground. By the end of 2005, Deb became a full time alpaca rancher, leaving her career in aerospace and achieving one of our biggest goals in starting this adventure!

Since that time our herd has grown to as large as 50 alpacas. We have competed in many alpaca shows, including the annual AOBA National conference and show.  We enjoy showing our alpacas and promoting our breeding program.  We have been very fortunate to have done well in the show ring and our alpacas have been recognized with numerous awards.  Alpaca shows have become more competitive each year and it has been great being part of the evolving industry.  Each new year we anxiously look forward to all the new cria and seeing the results of our breeding selections in combining the best traits of Sires and Dams to achieve the ultimate combination.  We are very proud of the progression and growth in our breeding program.

Along the way we have met some incredible people that make this industry exciting, fun and constantly prove that the alpaca lifestyle was the right choice for us! There is no going back to life before alpacas, we look forward to each new day with excitement and passion and love being a part of the ongoing evolution of the alpaca industry!

Thank you for visiting our blog and we hope to meet you someday if you feel the alpaca lifestyle or fiber arts and industry could be for you.  Or if you just want to spend a peaceful enjoyable day visiting alpacas. You won’t be disappointed!
